Tropos Networks Expands Executive Team, Adds Saar Gillai as VP of Engineering; Former Cisco Wireless Networking Business Unit Vice President Brings En

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Tropos Networks, the proven leader in delivering truly ubiquitous, metro-scale, Wi-Fi mesh network systems, today announced the addition of Saar Gillai to its world-class executive management team. Mr. Gillai will serve as Tropos Networks' Vice President of Engineering. In his new role, Mr. Gillai will be responsible for the continued development of the Tropos MetroMesh router and network management product line, reinforcing and extending the company's market and technology leadership.

Mr. Gillai brings more than 20 years of engineering and management experience to Tropos Networks. Most recently, Mr. Gillai was Vice President of Engineering for the Wireless Networking Business Unit of Cisco Systems, where over the past four years he played a key role in building Cisco's enterprise WLAN product line to the number one position in the market, having developed and shipped more than $1.5 billion in products during his tenure. In addition, Mr. Gillai was instrumental in the company's WLAN acquisition and integration strategy, most recently playing a key role in the acquisition, and integration of WLAN equipment provider Airespace. During his tenure with Cisco, Mr. Gillai also held key management positions in product development for the Desktop Switching Business Unit and the Multi Service Switching Business Unit, where he worked closely with major service providers on next generation network architectures.

In this role, Mr. Rittler will create partnerships with OEMs, strategic relationships with telecommunications equipment manufacturers and alliances with next-generation communications solutions partners.
