Inspection System checks thermal seal quality

Utilizing infrared thermal imaging technologies, Maxline 2 inspects seals and generates control outputs with no negative effect on production time or speed. Inspection tool specifically monitors thermal seal signatures and generates pass/fail results with diagnostic codes. With image de-burring feature, system can inspect continuous motion items at up to 700/min, and for indexing applications without de-burring feature, it can perform up to 300 inspections/min.

Ircon is pleased to introduce an innovative new solution designed to rapidly and automatically inspect thermal seal quality within production processes.

The Maxline 2 Thermal Seal Checking System applies infrared thermal imaging technologies in a unique and innovative way - instantly inspecting seals and generating control outputs with no negative effect to production time or speed.

The solution provides a flexible, in-process, non-destructive means for inspecting every seal in a production process, even if rapid and continuous. It provides an inspection tool that specifically monitors thermal seal signatures and generates "pass/fail" results with diagnostic codes

Hot Seal Defects -- that may result from contaminants in the sealing area or overheated or unevenly-heated seal bars or heaters. This may lead to seal weakness or failure due to seal bubbling or roll-off.

Cold Seal Defects -- that may result from under-heated seal bars or heaters. This may lead to seal weakness or failure due to weak spots, gaps or voids.

Seal Voids and Creases -- that may result due to defects in seal bar or heater areas, or misallignment of sealing equipment or materials.

As sealing errors are detected, the software can alert you to the type of error that is occurring, and can be programmed to automatically relay control signals to your process system(s) and equipment. Built-in TCP/IP networking capabilities also enables remote access -- to the system and the data it generates -- for those that need it.

Set-up of inspection parameters is highly flexible, designed for tailoring to a variety of production requirements, and settings can be saved and re-set for different production runs. The system also collects and stores data about every item inspected, for traceability and reporting purposes.

An advanced, rugged infrared sensing camera is included, designed to provide many years of reliable service placed in hostile production environments.

Targeted primarily to food, drug and medical equipment manufacturers, this system provides a quality control and process validation solution meant to increase inspection speed and coverage while lowering inspection costs and product recall risks.
